ABLE’s Engineering service optimizes the performance of piston accumulators.
We provide precise sizing through calculation sheets, supported by technical consulting to configure the ideal system for your project. Our engineers perform structural calculations in compliance with ASME VIII Div. 1 standards, ensuring safety and conformity. Additionally, we handle accumulator flushing to achieve the required cleanliness level and adhere to agreed-upon painting specifications. We can also supply specific certifications, such as DNV-GL and ABS, and perform nitrogen pre-charging at various pressure levels.
Every ABLE accumulator, whether new or refurbished, undergoes final pressure testing in the presence of an authorized inspector using a dedicated test bench. The process includes post-machining flushing, followed by oil filling and specific tests. These tests include:
Accumulators are emptied and prepared for shipment only after passing all tests. Although we do not typically fill accumulators with nitrogen, this service is available upon request, adhering to ADR regulations for the transport of hazardous goods.
Hydraulic tests are conducted with HLP ISO VG 46 mineral oil, and accumulators achieve an ISO cleanliness level of 17/15/12 according to ISO 4406 standards, with certification available upon request. Testing with alternative hydraulic fluids and higher cleanliness levels can also be arranged based on customer needs.
