ABLE piston accumulators are highly versatile and reliable solutions designed to store and exchange energy with the hydraulic systems they are connected to.
These devices consist of two chambers separated by a floating piston equipped with an advanced sealing and guiding system. One chamber is filled with gas (usually nitrogen), while the other is connected to the hydraulic circuit.
The gas pressure, selected according to the accumulator’s working conditions, acts as pre-charge pressure. When the hydraulic system pressure exceeds this level, fluid enters the chamber, compressing the gas in the opposite chamber and storing energy, which is then released back to the hydraulic system when the pressure drops below the gas level.
ABLE piston accumulators are designed to comply with European and American regulations and can meet any international standards or specific requirements.
The European version complies with the PED 2014/68/EU directive (APA-E series), while the American version follows the ASME Code (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), with the option to supply pressure vessels with ‘U’ Stamp certification under ASME Section VIII Div. 1 (APA-A series).
Each unit undergoes rigorous final pressure and functional testing performed under the supervision of an authorized inspector, to ensure maximum quality and design safety.
Our technology includes a special sealing and guiding system designed to ensure long-lasting components and seamless operation. This reduces stick-slip phenomena and enhances the accumulator’s response speed.
Sealing materials are selected based on working temperatures and the nature of the separated fluids and gases, offering tailored solutions.
Finally, a wide range of accessories allows for full customization of ABLE piston accumulators to meet the specific needs of every application.
